Filters

Those of us who have worked previously with Microsoft Dynamics CRM are familiar with views.

Views are a good way of setting up predefined rules for record selection. These views are easy to set up and even easier to apply when you are working on a day to day basis within your Microsoft Dynamics CRM system. The problems with views are revealed when you want to make small changes of the search criteria. A user then needs to go in to the advanced search and change the search criteria for that view.

In Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011, Microsoft added a new feature that I’m really excited about for our customers. This feature is called filter. For those of you who have worked with Excel will recognize this feature. Filters allow you to quickly and easily add filters to each column in a record grid.

This enables you to quickly and easily change the search criteria in the grid where you are currently working. This saves the user several mouse clicks and the result is presented instantaneous just the way the user has set it up to be filtered.
