Absalon supports the Ultraman Champion Jonas Colting in his quest for a third title.
Jonas Colting is still in the lead of Ultraman World Championships after second day of racing.
The athletes were facing a 171.4 mile bike ride today (276 km) from Volcanoes National Park to Hawi.
- I´ve never had a ride in such extreme conditions! Today we had torrential rains, heat and extreme winds. I was literally
fearing for my life going up and down the Kohala Mountains, Jonas says.
Alexandre Ribeiro from Brazil is now in third position 15 minutes behind, Michael Coughlin is second 7 minutes behind.
Jonas got a six minutes penalty at Kohala Mountain Road on his last climb up to Hawi when his crew car had to protect
him from cars from behind due to strong sidewinds. That wasn't the only thing that slowed him down today.
- I have an injury in my left glute that has been hard to diagnose. It gets really sore at times and today it was horrible. I
was in so much pain for the better part of the ride and it was very demoralizing not being able to ride as well as I wanted
to, Jonas says.
